As we progress and innovate into the
millennium, the Graphic Arts, Printing, Packaging, Paper and
the Graphic Communications Industries will invariable face
greater challenges in the years ahead. This is spear headed by
the advancement of printing technology, especially with the
increase in the use of IT. The introduction of Digital
Printing has reached commercial stage and the emergence of
e-commerce, e-printing, e-publishing etc will impose more
challenges ahead for the printing and related industries in
Malaysia.
Whatever the challenges ahead of us, the
basic printing technology especially off-set lithography,
gravure, flexography and screen printing will remain intact.
This is especially so where the highest quality print is
required in large volume.
I am proud to say that the Institute has
taken several steps to bring professionalism to the industry.
This is achieved through technical seminars, golf tournament,
inaugural dinner, bi-monthly ‘Professional Printer’ magazine
etc.
I would like to take this opportunity to
express my sincere thanks to all our sponsors, advertisers and
contributors for their support for the institute’s activities
over the years. We look forward to working with all of you
again on future projects which would bring the printing
industry in Malaysia to even greater heights.
Thank you.
Sincerely yours,
Chia Kar Loong FIOP (UK)
